Gemsy operates on a cascade-based match-3 engine where every successful three-gem alignment triggers an automatic gravity drop, creating chain reaction opportunities. The core mechanic rewards strategic planning over random swipes: matching four gems generates a line-clearing striped gem, while five-gem L or T formations produce explosive radial blasters.
The power-up system stacks multiplicatively. Combining two special gems amplifies their effect range by 200%, while three simultaneous specials activate the Rainbow Cascade mode where all gems of one color detonate across the entire board. This creates skill-ceiling depth rarely seen in casual puzzle games.
Progression locks behind a three-star rating system per level. Stars are earned by exceeding move efficiency thresholds and score milestones calculated dynamically based on board complexity. The algorithm adjusts difficulty every 15 levels, introducing new gem types and obstacle mechanics to prevent pattern memorization.
Every match triggers automatic gem drops that create secondary matches. Expert players chain 8+ consecutive cascades in a single move, multiplying scores exponentially through the combo multiplier that caps at x10 after seven consecutive chains.
Combine two striped gems to clear entire rows and columns simultaneously. Merge a striped with a bomb to create a triple-radius explosion. The rarest fusion—two rainbow gems—clears the entire board and awards 50,000 bonus points regardless of remaining moves.
Each level introduces unique board layouts with ice blocks, chain locks, and color generators. Levels 200-300 add time pressure modes. Levels 400+ feature multi-layer boards where matches on the top layer affect bottom-layer gem positions through gravity tunnels.
Play anywhere without internet connection. All 500 levels are fully accessible offline, with progress syncing automatically when you reconnect. Daily challenges and leaderboards update in the background without interrupting gameplay.
Earn boosters through level completion rather than forced purchases. The hammer breaks single gems, the shuffle reorganizes impossible boards, and the color bomb removes all gems of one type. Each booster regenerates one unit every six hours passively.
New puzzle appears every 24 hours with unique win conditions: clear 50 purple gems in 20 moves, achieve a 12-cascade chain, or score 100,000 points with only four-gem matches. Completing three consecutive dailies unlocks a legendary booster chest.
